CHAPTER 13: HOW LONG CHAPTER 13 STAYS ON YOUR CREDIT REPORT

A Chapter 13 bankruptcy remains on your credit report for seven years from the date your papers are filed with the bankruptcy court. The impact is much less than that of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. For starters, you must live with a Chapter 13 for three fewer years than a Chapter 7. In addition, your creditors look upon a completed and successful Chapter 13 Plan more positively than a Chapter 7 because you've shown that you are ready, willing and able to repay your debts over time.
